I think both are great. I think I prefer the B&W over the color in this case. The background distracts me a bit in color.

Excellent work, Jason!
Wonderful JP. I've been there when the fog horn went off. What did you say:)
Thanks guys.
I've been there too when the foghorns are on. I've even set off the foghorn at another lighthouse on a sunny day by accidentally standing in front of the optical rangefinder it used as a sensor.
Now the foghorns are activated by VHF radio by mariners in need. The optical sensors were past their useful life and getting unreliable. They did not go off when I was there thankfully.

So I'm standing, getting ready to take this photo. The place where Janice and Lauren are sitting is fairly high up. Janice helps Lauren get there but has some trouble pulling herself up. A young German tourist helpfully puts both of her hands on Janice's bottom and gives a good shove. That would've been the photo of the trip, but I was standing there doing my best impression of a slack-jawed yokel.
I tend to prefer B&W, the face comes forward a bit more and the overall sense of space is increased. This may be because the blue, while more attention grabbing in the chair and sandal, tend to draw us also toward the blue in the background.

Road trip passing through Durango, Colorado. Fun restaurants to enjoy with a great camera. Portrait of my dad - maybe f/4 for 1/25th....
