How to spot the diffence of 120 or 220 Linhof Super Rollex?
Hi there,
how is it possible to spot the difference between a 120 and 220 Super Rollex Back?
Sometimes the type of film is just written on the side, but in this case I do only have those two pictures, and the seller can't tell me.

I hope someone can help me with that..no, wait..I know that someone can help;)
Thanks in advance
Cheers

I don't think you can tell from those pictures.
Its usually written on the outside of the shell near where it says 6x7 or 6x7.

There should be a counter somewhere.... go to 10 is 120 film and 20 is 220 film for 6x7. 8 and 16 respectively for 6x9.

It has to say somewhere on the outside of the holder. I must admit that I have never seen a 220 Super Rollex film holder - they seem to be so rare that I sometimes think they were never made.

Thank you all for the good ideas!
I do have pictures from every thinkable perspectives but unfortunately there is no mark or anything..all you see is the format.
If I actually had the backs I could put some film in there and see if it works, but in this case I just have the pictures, so it's not possible the see if the counter goes up to 20/16.
Do you think it would be helpfull to contact Linhof directly and ask whether they can tell by the Serialnumber if it is 120 or 220?
Cheers

Geez, what an expensive roll film holder. I just found a 220 insert offered for $1608 by itself. That's at B&H Photo.

mine is a steal 250$ for both backs an shipping from Canada to Switzerland:)
Re: How to spot the diffence of 120 or 220 Linhof Super Rollex?
The shells are the same. The inserts are different. So with one shell for a 45 Super Rollex you could use any Super Rollex insert, even those from the 23 Super Rollex. The differences will be the frame counters. 120 inserts will have 20 shots (in 220) as opposed to 10 shots (in 120).
Some users had two shells, one for the 45 cameras and one for 23 Linhof cameras and just switched the inserts between them.

Toby, be careful. the photos you posted only showed pieces of the roll film adapters. Unless there are more photos you didnt' post.
Here is a complete outfit, I copied a photo from an Ebay lister (forgiveme for copy right vios) that shows the shell, backing plate and insert. I think this is complete, less the red magic marker.
I'm not a Linhoff guy, I just googled and checked Ebay to see what they look like.

We were able to check it now:)
I wrote an email directly to Linhof and I think I'll just post the answer right here:
(translated from German)
120:
Take out the insert and turn it around. There is nothing at the bottom but a small "window" (a small square). The pressure spring is made out of metal - nothing else.
220:
On the side of the insert "220" should be written.
Take out the insert and turn it around. At the bottom there is an additional metal plate (silver) and no "window" The pressure spring is also made from metal but has two small additional rolls.
It's not possible to tell it just from the serialnumber btw.
Hope this helps:) ..to me it did..2x 120:)
Cheers
