Series 9 filter system question

Hi!

What is the biggest filter thread size for Series9 filters? What is the actual diameter of the filter itself?

The #9 series filter is 3.25 inches (82.6 mm)
It's retaining ring is 3 7/16 inches (87.5mm)

It is usually referred to in inch metrics

The #9 System has #9 as the largest, but there are other series filters that go up to 5 7/16"

Is there a brand out there making series 9 filters other than Tiffen, with quality glass?

I believe Formatt Filters is still making series 9 filters (www.formatt.co.uk).

Heliopan. They measure 82.6 x 5.6mm. Heliopan makes Series V, 5.5, VI, VII, 7.5L, VIII, IX and 93. But not in all filter types.

All my lenses have filter threads and are quite modern. Is there any reason for choosing Series 9 over e.g. Hoya filters set with step up rings for the lenses?
