L.A. to Michigan next week
I'll be driving home next week taking I-15 north then I-70 east. I've made this drive a couple times but never in winter. I'm looking for places to shoot along the way besides the obvious nat'l parks which I will visit as well. I don't mind traveling short distances from the interstate but not several hours. I don't have my snowshoes or x country skis. I'll be sleeping on the top of my car.

no. my -20 down bag keeps me toasty, that's why I including the pic, still think I'm crazy? Just me Daniel, they do make larger models but my Maggiolina sleeps two.

I bet your sleeping bag doesn't help when you have to take a leak in the middle of the night at -20! :)

Not crazy. I just never heard of anything like that before. I would feel vulnerable. I would prolly just sleep in the back seat.

You work for TV shows? The Biggest Looser? I saw some of your flicker stream. I was at Zion Virgin river narrows. I have to assume this is where you were too. The place is 3.5 hours from my front door. Here is a quick clip of my trip to the Narrows this past summer. I love that place!

Very Cool set up Vinny
Someday you will make it to Toronto and the surrounding north, much different landscape just across the lake near Owen Sound.
I think you would be surprised , your neck of Michigan really is visually vibrant, but there are parts of Ontario that border on the Bruce Trail that is one of the best kept secrets for landscape work.
Have fun with the trip, I am planning a 25 day road trip to Venice Beach and back late next year.

Zion is one of the most amazing places I've been. I've probably shot there 4-5 times and the narrows is a must see in the fall. I do set lighting on movies and tv, the biggest loser was a long time ago.
Bob, I've only been to Toronto once but only to visit. Really nice people there and I do hope to made it a road trip in the future as well as Lake superior's north shore.
