A mistake I couldn't find on the LF Home Page
The image below is my first shot on a Super Speed Graphic. I think I did well, except for a mysterious band that showed up in all my 10 films. After reading the Home Page and experimenting one way or the other, I found out that I inserted the 4x5 film wrongly, surprise!!! One side went into the correct track, and the other side (with the mark en the edges) went into the dark slide slot. So, when I moved the dark slide to close the holder, it did close, but creating a terrible scratch on the film, and of course, exposing a band. I inserted the whole 10 film box in the same way. First lesson. The camera came with the Schneider 135/4.7, a small jewel. Then I got the Fuji 250/6.3 and found out that it is HEAVY! This is the second lesson. I just wanted to share with you my early experience and if you have any advice, please send it over. Pepe

Re: A mistake I couldn't find on the LF Home Page
Welcome!!!
The fuzzy band might be from part of the bellows intruding into the image path behind the lens, blocking that edge...
Focus the camera on something, and pop the GG panel off, and look at the edges to see if anything is in the way...
Start there...

I also did that more than once. There are many ways to fail at this.
I have to talk outloud to myself to get each step correct.
Its what makes it interesting.

I am confirming that the film was inserted wrongly into the film holder, one side entered the correct groove and the other entered into the groove where the dark slide runs. Here is an sample of the one I did correctly.

You might have a light leak.

Re: A mistake I couldn't find on the LF Home Page
Now looking at the neg image you posted, it seems that there is an undeveloped/unfixed edge on the side, where this sheet was not fully immersed in the solutions???
What method are you developing these with again???

Good job figuring that out. So many lessons to learn but it is very rewarding.

Hi Steve: The film was inserted wrongly, allowing the light to enter the holders, which I carried for several days before taken the picture. I developed those in a regular Patterson Tank. Since the, I have a JObo tank and do continued rotation. Here is a sample of the last film I developed:
