The Photobook: A History, Volume I
Was just looking through this new book at the bookshop - what a great book!
Definately on my Xmas list...
A couple of things I especially like about it is the attemp to avoid too much emphasis on what they call the normal European-American axis.
Also, I don't think Adams or Weston get a single entry
Their guiding theme is "intention, logic, continuity, climax, sense and perfection"
Nice to see something that works to avoid the same old same old

I haven't read the book and so wouldn't pass judgement on it. But it does seem a little odd to write a book about the history of photography books without mentioning the two photographers whose work has probably been the subject of more books than all other photographers in the history of the medium comnbined.

The Photobook: A History, Volume I
"...what we have done is to try to start this project without preconceptions. No book or photographer has been automatically included just because the official history dictates it; many key fugures forn other histories have been excluded. We've omited a number of great photographers because thay've never made a great book. ..."
