The Collection at Baldwin Photographic Gallery
Lecture and Reception, This Wednesday 2.21.2018, 6:00 p.m.
Bragg Media and Entertainment Building, Room 104
When I pulled this matted print from that portfolio box, I didn't know who did it, but I knew it was good. I turned the mat over in my hands and saw the title, name, and signature... Harry Callahan.
Oh, yeah. Of course it is good.
Come see this fabulous jewel of an image, of a print.
"Bob Fine" Harry Callahan, 1952 Gelatin Silver Print.
Bob Fine was a photography student of Callahan's and later an architect in Chicago. He stands here between two grain elevators. This man, this designer of buildings, in a tiny slit of light, flanked by the stark mass of hard steel.
That's photography. That's Callahan.

Where is this? At a university? Sounds interesting even if I can't attend.
Re: Baldwin Photo Gallery - new show
The Baldwin Gallery is located on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. Photography is part of the Media Arts program. Starts with film, both B&W and Color, and goes into digital. I started by enrolling in a large format summer class, kept going back for more classes, and now I have a BS degree. I like the program and the professors.
The Photography program at MTSU began in 1959 under Professor Harold Baldwin, for whom the Baldwin Photographic Gallery and Collection are named. Mr. Baldwin, who is retired but still actively supporting the program, started collecting works with a $100 budget. Tom Jimison continued as curator with Jackie just stepping into the role. The gallery has impressive shows including one student show each year. I find the receptions are well worth the time.

Bill, great tip. I'm only 227 miles away. I will visit in summer.
The FB link you posted leads us to Pinterest, which is fine with me. I use Pinterest more and more every day. Its organization as language and communication solely through images is a powerful resource in itself.
The Callahan 'Bob Fine' print is groundbreaking in any era.
Thank you!
