Part Needed for Linhof Color main rail clamp knob...Red.
Hello everyone,
Just looking into the possibility that a member may have parts on hand for a Linhof Color 4x5 camera...in particular, the Red (Bakelite?) main rail clamp
knob as seen in the photo below. Currently, using a metric wing-nut, works ok, looks like crap.
Let me know if you have an extra you can part with and what you're looking for.

Earlier I said I would look for my spares, and did not find originals.
If you don't care about originals, then go here, look around

There is probably one that will fit. You might have to add a short tubular spacer.

Anyone with a lathe can make something for you in about an hour or so. Just need to know the thread dimensions.

I have found that the set-up time for machining one part is more expensive than buying a stock part.

Look in my opinion knobs are really easy to do and if you machine one you can machine them all for almost the same price; making a drawing, set up time, tooling but stock and work are not that much. finally you will have camera with new metal knobs and you dont need to worry. or buy them form McMaster as suggested. finally you can contact Wilderness and ask if they will sale some knobs form this camera http://www.largeformatphotography.in...ess-8x10/page4

While that is true, I just tend to sit down in front of the lathe with an idea of what I want to make (and a few dimensions in my head) and just turn out a part. I don't have a shop foreman wondering what I'm doing since I'm doing it in my garage :)
Plus, it's a custom part.

Sure, if you have a machine shop! And room, patience and talent. That sure leaves most of us looking for ready-made replacement parts. I'm good with a drill press, taps and dies, but machining is way over my head. But good for you!
I used to use emachineshop with good success, and of course only one part cost a lot, but turning out a hundred was very inexpensive per-part. I actually made some money on one project. One. :(
