Images of the 2017 Solar Eclipse
There doesn't seem to be a thread on this (if there is, please merge).
Here is what the eclipse looked like outside Washington DC on 4x5 Foma 100 black and white film, shot with a 360mm Tele-Xenar lens. The image of the sun is about 3/16th of an inch across on the negative. The sequence goes until the point of greates coverage (maybe it is called partiality), then stops because I had an eye appointment.
I had to keep moving the camera, so nothing lines up very well, and one spot in the sequence is missing because of clouds over the sun, but I plan to have my daughter fix it all in photoshop, then make a digital negative I can use for prints. I also plan to make some cyanotypes on watercolor paper, then have my wife hand color the sun.
I also shot the sequence on Portra 400 (what I had loaded), but might be a while before I develop that.

Great Tim! Thanks for sharing.

Great attempt Tim - I managed to expose one sheet of 4X5 thru a Wallensak 15" f5.6 Tele-Raptar - but I have a feeling it won't be very good.

Printed my pictures just the other day. This is one of the better ones. Pinhole image, 11x14" enlargement of 8x10" negative.

Re: Images of the 2017 Solar Eclipse
Good work guys!
I decided to not shoot at all and just enjoy the moment. Totality IS a big deal, nothing compares, definitely not any partial eclipse.
I did have 2-1/2 minutes but they fly by. Maybe in 6 years when it happens again here. This old man needs a goal to...
