Good online service for slides from jpgs?
After years of ignoring galleries, I now am paying attention. And the old school farts in the mud still want SLIDES for crying out loud. Geez....
All the local film recorder places have gone out of business and I don't even have a 35mm SLR to shoot a roll of slide film. And shooting a picture of an inkjet print just seems ridiculous to me...
So where is there a nice online service that I can send some high quality jpgs to via ftp or email for simple 35mm slide output?
Re: Good online service for slides from jpgs?
There is an outfit called slides.com that I hear good things about. Their prices are resonable too. I don't use them myself since I have the capability to produced 35mm film slides in house. (Actually if the inkjet is good, the slide copy isn't all that bad either. I've done that in a pinch also.) There is more demand from the "old farts in the mud" than you would imagine. ;)

I shoot art work for various artists and they always need slides. I shoot digital with a Canon 5D and have the slides made by: iprintfromhome.com
It's a strange name but they are actually a lab that has been in business for many years. Their web site is excellent and you can call them for help if necessary. They make the slides and ship the same day for anything that enters their system by 5:00 AM. They do excellent work and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Their prices are $2.49 for the first slide of a particular image and then each additional one for that same image is $1.25. Good luck.

I use slides.com - prices are reasonable and they have a pretty quick turnaround time. Most of my work is color - if I send an SRGB jpg they do a decent job in getting the colors correct.
And, of course, their URL is easy to remember.
Cheers!

If you don't mind my asking, why jpgs (they deteriorate every time you save them)?

The guy who owns GammaTech is a good friend of mine, and very reliable. I use him regularly.
