Re: Now e-Bay wants my SSN and bank account info . . .???
people refused to pay "use tax" , I think it's funny it took the feds 20+ years to figure out a way to do it.

Flipping has become pretty rampant lately in just about every category. Thrift stores with anything but just junk are a distant memory, as are second tier retail shops like TJ Maxx. Bots buy all the new electronics first so they can resell them at a profit. I understand the economic motivation but I won't be real sad if flipping is taken down a notch..

A big chunk of the business on sites like eBay has always been flipping. More stringent selling rules may have reduced the number of people selling their personal stuff, but that was never a big component in terms of dollars.

I see that the IRS has delayed this part of the law: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/23/irs-...-payments.html
Maybe that $600 threshold will be increased to something higher.

Seems to be often the case. Old reg was too lax, new reg was too restrictive. Perhaps they'll settle into something more reasonable.

Too quick enactment
Next year plan for it, in 3 days....
I would love to see more traditional barter, swap meets in person
Paper money has a good feel
In the 80's serious buyers had armed bodyguards handcuffed to a briefcase, with backup, wearing suits
and get there before they open, as the real action is right now

The old days of swap meets aren't coming back I'm afraid. Some of the things we sell are too obscure for even regional buyers to care much about and pay what they are worth. I'm glad we are no longer in a world where we have to carry around mountains of cash either...
