First Homemade 11x14 Negatives
They're not much to look at, but I can't help but share them in pride of my accomplishment. The shot was set up to simply test to make sure my ground glass was in the right place relative to the film plane. That was a complete success. Then, the images themselves are the beginning to figuring out a good development time and EI for X-ray film. The left was way off and over exposed...which is unfortunate since it had the fewest defects/scratches. The right is better, but maybe half a stop off of what I wanted.
The strong light to dark line that goes diagonal across the negatives is actually just the top of the shower behind them. It isn't not on the negatives themselves.
Still, it is soooo satisfying to pull these massive negatives out of the soup and see an sharp image on them. Now that I know the ground glass is correct, I'll be doing a few more tests on developing and be more careful with scratches.

Very nice! X-Ray is fun and cheap.
Re: First Homemade 11x14 Negatives
Fantastic - were these exposed using a home-made camera? Just wondering because you were testing the focus and ground-glass.

Re: First Homemade 11x14 Negatives
So...my camera is still a work in progress.
I quit the monorail set up [[insert Simpson's GIF HERE]] and I've moved to something that has a bit in common with what Ritter does with his cameras.
I discovered that the rails and hardware used for building small rig video cages & carry systems was actually very workable for my DIY 11x14. So I made a video about my new focusing system. It's more elegant, I think and less ugly...to the extent that matters. No camera in the shots. I need to take a day off work to go out and shoots some film so I can perhaps do a better video about what I've done.

Not super interesting, but...it's something.

Awesome share!
Thank you for this!

How exciting! I can only imagine the satisfaction.
Having built all of a homemade 8x10 except for the bellows, I have to ask - what material did you use for the bellows?
Re: First Homemade 11x14 Negatives
Wow, that's like the super large version of my bender. Very cool!
