The 8x10 Korona, another look
Hello,,
This my old C-1 ground camera that I have added a few things to:
The first shows the Korona with an 11x14 expansion back attached and a 210mm Darlot in recessed board.
The next shot shows the Korona with 11x14 back and a 600mm (non-telephoto) lens attached and will work perfect with one rail do to the expansion back and extended lens board.
By using the camera with the expansion back you use less bellows which causes bellows to tend to bunch up and will sag enough to be in frame in vertical position.
This is the reason I developed a bellows bridge that holds bellows up and out of frame, then folds down when not in use.
The filter holder you see here is 5" and I made an adapter using the lens cap of the 600mm lens and a round peice of 3/16" teak plywood.
I might also add that I have replaced all the tiny factory screws with larger screws in every area of the camera

A closer look at the bellows bridge and rail stiffeners
Re: The 8x10 Korona, another look
This is what I call the 11x14 lens rack that I made to keep the 11x14 lenses in.. Made of African Padauk w/ a leather Gundlach handle..
This box holds a 210mm in recessed board, 600mm in expansion board, and a 300mm in a reg board
Re: The 8x10 Korona, another look
I can go out and shoot an 8x10 without having to carring an 11x14 and the camera weighs 11 lbs as an 11x14 and 8 lbs with 8x10 back..

Re: The 8x10 Korona, another look
Thank you Nicolas,,
I like this camera so much I'm thinkin about sellin the sinar
Re: The 8x10 Korona, another look
oh yeah,, and i used lock-tight on all the screws i replaced :D
also I'd like to point out that it being a government issued C-1 ground camera Ansel Adams could have used it while he worked for the parks dept. all I need to do now is have a dna test done on the gundlach handle
Re: The 8x10 Korona, another look
Too bad Adams didn't signed every item he used during his life..... ;)

By the way,, I forgot to mention that I replaced the original handle on the camera with one that I purchaced from Richard K. and I put the original Korona handle on the custom lens box..
Thank you Richard K. I love this handle dude! :)
