Delta 100 in Rodinal 1+25 for 9 minutes (box rec.)
I cut out a square of Flame Red gel (Lee 164) and taped it over the lens.

Re: Still Life Images 2017
Alex well done! Welcome to the site. The softness of the light is great, the textures are interesting. Lots of elements working in this image!
Good work to all on this thread so far this year.

This is one of those images that reassures me that - "its all been done before" is a myth. Wonderful and inspiring. Makes me want to go dig around in my shed for something to shoot up close.

Re: Still Life Images 2017
A friend challenged me to try a zone plate, so I stuck a 300mm one on my Toyo4x5. The bike is red and I used a red #25 filter so I could focus for a specific color. With 2+ kW of hot lights this is a 5s exposure on TriX, scanned from the final print.

Now I've got to identify other subjects this would be interesting with.

Here are some of the dried weeds from last year's garden, shot with a Zero Image 150mm zone plate on 4x5 TriX, lit with hot lights and scanned from Ilford print

Here's the same scene from the Schneider 150mm that I used for setting up the zone plate (previous posting above). A lot of detail got smoothed out in compressing the file - too bad.

@Eliverto. Very Nice... I like it also!
Your choice of using a 'Box' within the Image...
Makes all the difference -- In setting off your Subject Matter.

Re: Still Life Images 2017
Thanks for commenting Tim, I painted the boards flat red and the bottom of the box with flat black, to get the tonal separation.

No problem... You are always more than welcome Eliverto!
Excellent! Your painting efforts and hard work have paid off very nicely!
Can I 'perhaps' make one small suggestion?

Since, 'Critiques' are not allowed in the Image Sharing Forum (*Unless solicited otherwise)...
I will now wait to hear back from you -- Once again. Thank-you!

Yes, no problem with critiques/suggestion/remarks :)
-
Re: Still Life Images 2017
This of course is only a suggestion... "Nothing More and Nothing Less". :)
--
When arranging 'Still Life' Subjects... Try using an 'Odd' Number of Objects.
Thus in your instance, you could perhaps use 3 Gourds -- Instead of using only 2.
This helps your Image from remaining too 'Static' and also creates a nice sense of 'Harmony and Flow'...
Within the Image.
--
Thank-you! Very Kind Regards,
-Tim.

Designers tell us that three is better than a pair, but some of Diane Arbus' best work was with twins and couples. Shoot what you've got.

There's a window and a softbox to the right, a foamcore reflector to the left.

That was a polaroid of the same shot. The sun was setting and turning everything golden, which is nice sometimes. I like how the softbox lights (5600K) changed the color.
