Microtek 5600 + TPU to scan negatives and slides?

Does anybody have experience with the new Microtek ScanMaker 5600 Scanner? It so unds promising, 2400x4800 optic resolution, and the price is "lower" -- $169, a separate TPU sells for $80, so for $250 I can get a 2400DPI scanner, much lower than Epson 2450's $400.

I am thinking to use this scanner to scan medium format negatives and slides, an d I am wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

My tests show the resolution is overstated.
