Makes perfect sense! Ill do it now.
Sending off 5 lenses to me technician for a thorough cleaning.
Re: So I purchased the D5 XL
On the mounting plate in the middle, there's sorta a hole. What's the purpose of the hole ?
Re: So I purchased the D5 XL
I'd consider investigating the floor stand more fully.

The center hole is just to run a small screw into the baseboard, just to hold it in place while you're trying to mount the column to the plate.

Exactly. See pictures here: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/t-n...ecatalog/N-c2n
And of course you install them on the underside so they dig in more as you tighten. Sorry, if that is obvious, but better than finding out when they pull out and the enlarger and expensive head fall over...

I'm with Bill on this...
My D5 is on a floor stand to allow greater magnifcation by dropping the easel stage, as was a Beseler I had last year.
Re: So I purchased the D5 XL
My current problem is I cant lower the color head. Something's blocking it.
And I guess ill commission a local furniture shop to make a baseboard with dimensions;22" x 34" x 1.5"
( same as factory )

Oh crud. When I opened the Dichroic head to extract the medium format mixing box, found this bugger out of its place. If possible Id like to remove all of em, as they could use a cleaning. But i cant seem to figure out how to fix this bugger in place.
