Angulon 90mm 6.8 vs Nikon 90mm f8
Here are the two images coming from trix320, shot consecutively with finetunining of focus for each lens mentioned in the heading. Both scanned and edited with the same settings. I took the shot thinking there will be definite differences... I did not even bother remembering which sheet corresponds to which lens. Your opinion?

I'm looking at these images at 72dpi on a computer screen. What do you want me to say?

#2 is the Angulon :)

The image on top has less detail in the highlights and is overall more contrasty I would say that is the Nikon and the one on the bottom has more has more tonal range all around in the shadows and highlights that has to be the Schnedier Super Angulon. :)

What kind of file specifications would be more appropriate?
ElRooster.. its not a super angulon.. just the angulon..(6.8 version) quite old.. actually very old... but is it a linhof select..
I think the angulon is single coated while the nikon is multi..

The camera has been moved & the shadows are different, kind of difficult to make any observation other than that.

The camera has not been moved.. but the two lenses seem to vary in focal lenght. One had to be focused back a bit.... The shadows might have changed because the sun was setting.. it took a bit to dismount one lens and mount the second.. then focus it again..
I am kind of suprised that I am not seeing a bigger difference..
by the way both shot at comparable aperture.. I beleive f28.. but the Angulon does not have that marking so it could be a little off.

Top one seems to be sharper right out to the very corners, making me think that's the nikon and the Angulon is the bottom shot. However, both look good to me.
Re: Angulon 90mm 6.8 vs Nikon 90mm f8
The slightly softer corners of the lower image I believe give it away. That is most likely the Angulon. The Angulon does not have the coverage of the Nikkor and most likely suffers a bit at the extreme edges of the image circle. Of course one factor that will impact the relative contrast is the use of a proper shade to exclude non-image forming light. I did a similar experiment with a 165mm Angulon only one negative was done with my barn door shade and the other without. Take a look at my article and see the difference just a shade will make with an older single coated lens.
