making cold light head from scanner light source?

I picked up a Mustek A3 scanner last evening, which was given with a substitute power supply that promptly started the electronics smoking.

I've trashed the power supply and am taking parts from the scanner for project parts and I started wondering, can a scanner cold light be used for a home built LF enlarger cold light head?

The light from this one may be too large but smaller scanner bulbs might be a good choice or do I have this all wrong?
