Finally...my perfect 10x8 bag!
I've been looking for a rucksack style bag to carry my Ansco 10x8 without much success. Camera bags never seem to be deep enough, and rucksacs don't seem to be wide enough, so on a whim, I called in at a fishing tackle shop last week to take a look at their fishing bags. They had quite a few bags that would have been suitable, but for £50 I bought one of these:

The 10x8 drops nicely into the main compartment, the front pocket is large enough for dark slides, and I can easily drop a lens on a 6"x6" lens board into the side pockets and put a dark cloth on top. The top pocket takes my light meters, spirit level etc and the whole thing is easy to carry with it's well padded straps.
If anyone else is looking at a bag for carrying their large format kit, then a fishing tackle shop may be a good place to look, and the cost seems to be much cheaper than anything you could buy from a camera or hiking shop.

Would it take a Toyo 810M? What are the dimensions of your camera?
Thanks for the tip,
Stefan

An old model Tenba PBH and a new model Lowepro 600 AW are also possible to swallow an Agfa Ansco 8x10.

Thanks! Not at home right now, but I'll check in two weeks when back home (now, if somebody with a 810M could check and post if it fits, I could already order one and it would be home before me :-)).

Stefan, the Toyo 810M is 15x15 inches, and 6,5 inches deep; that particular rucksack would not fit, but there may be a larger model.
I bought a Nanuk 945 case for my 810M; it holds the camera (with one lens attached), three other lenses, and accessories very nicely.

Maybe it DOES fit? The OP did not say it's a tight fit for the Ansco. That Nanuk 945 looks like an excellent case for transport by car, carry-on by plane or for storage, but for walking, I would prefer a rucksack.
Bruce, would you mind giving us the inner dimensions of the main compartment?

It is 14" wide, so I wouldn't like to say it would fit.
The fishing tackle shop I called into had a lot of bags about this size, some even had pockets that acted as cool bags...handy for film or sandwiches in hot climes, but not much call for it around here!
They were all well made from Cordura and had well padded rucksack type straps except for one cheap (£30+) example. I will definitely be going back to see if they have something just as good for my 5x7 camera. I think they are designed for Carp fishing or at least this was a specialised Carp fishing shop I called into.
It was the range of well made bags at very reasonable prices, of all sizes that impressed me.

Ah . . .the endless search for the perfict camera bag.
I have become a fan of the PhotoBackpacker system of semi-rigid padded boxes for my gear. They are designed to hold and protect Large Format equipment including cameras. They make my kit modular and I can safely and conveniently pack it into any bag,be it role around carry-on luggage to a harde sace or any back.
Now, choosing a bag that is comfortable and will accomodate my photo gear is much easier.

Looks good. Will dark slides (which I presume is film holders in UK parlance) fit in the side pockets? Proportions look about right in the photo...
