I've a pair of condensers for which I'd like to make a holder so that I have a 'double condenser set'.
What if anything, is the recommended air gap between the 'apex' of convex form of the individual condensers - does it matter if they are touching???

Most are nearly touching, but touching can form a tiny Newton's ring spot where they meet, so a band spacer inside the holder is good...
You can position a lamp at where the bulb height is, and examine from where the neg stage would be and look for even light distribution across the lower condenser surface and look for hot spots or "kidney bean" shaped dark spots... Then photo test...
