Getting Transparencies Processed
I'm just getting involved with 4x5 and may have some dumb question, but could anyone recomend a lab to have 4x5 transparencies processed, mostly velvia. I don't have a dependable local lab, I'm still waiting 3 weeks for my last batch I gave them.
thanks

The question's ok - but possible responders would need to know the area you live near, in order to give any kind of reply.

In three weeks, you could walk to the nearest city that has a good 4x5 lab. No matter where you live.

I live in NYC. Most of the labs here have closed in the last few years because of digital stuff. I use Duggal to process my E-6 because they are the biggest and do the most processing so they have fresh chemistry all the time and qualified people running the machines.
Normal processing takes three hours and rush is like an hour and a half just so you know. If you are going to FedEx your film you could send it to NYC if you wanted to or anywhere. Find a lab that is famous and very very busy. Duggal can be found at duggal.com

If you're near the midwest - i highly recommend Gamma. They do all my c41 and e6 work.

Thanks everyone for your input. I live in the cincinnati area, but I wouldn't have a problem if I had to send it across country. I was thinking A and I in California.
take care
p.s. I just went to my local lab to rattle some heads, they claim the machine was broke, but we'll see.

Robin Imaging of Cincinnati does 4x5 2 hour E6 for $2.50. They have a Lightjet and offer all the usual services you would expect from a prolab. I have not had a problem in the three years I have used them.
