Gursky Giant Prints Technique
Im thinking about making some large prints, I don't know the limitations of low grain 4x5 drum scanned film but I doubt I would be able to make a 4 feet long print.
How the hell Andreas Gursky can make a 20 feet long print out of 5x7!? I know that he manipulates almost all of his images but...how?!
thanks for any insight
Re: Gursky Giant Prints Technique
4' should be terribly difficult to do?
Re: Gursky Giant Prints Technique
I don't know if 4 is gonna be difficult, it is a new terrain for me, but 20 is undoubtly difficult.
Re: Gursky Giant Prints Technique
I suggest you pre-sell one for $9 million, and then just get someone else to print it for you :)

And hope it does not fade.

Yes, many times. He's not my favorite artist, but the experience of walking up to his prints can be pretty awe inspiring. Honestly, I don't know how he does it, technically speaking.

Some Gursky photos have very little detail. Some of the photos are actually made of two pieces glued together, i.e. printed in stripes that got assembled together. Prints up to 180 x 306cm can be made by many digital print studios; it becomes more interesting if you need more that that. I regularly print 3' wide.
