:( My mint Graflex 2x3 RB 'B' is curtains!
Meaning my new to me Graflex 2-1/4 X 3-1/4 RB Series B Focal Plane shutter disconnected it's curtain from the bottom roller, after 20 'tests' of this really good condition camera. The curtain looked and worked well, and then flap, flap. flap and it disappeared. Bottoms up I'm afraid!
I was just about to go shooting it today...at Chicago LFPG. Michael was disappointed.
So sad, but it must be repairable. This camera is really low mileage.
I need some advice for DIY rescue.
Looking online, I found some info but not enough.

http://www.apug.org/forums/viewpost.php?p=1011669 This is great advice and mine worked just like John Nanian says. I think the glue let go on the bottom roller.
I need some pointers before I start surgery...
Look at this poor thing, it needs another 100 years to grow old....

Bummer.
Still we all did bring, as though ghostly intervention, 4x5 pressy-type cameras to the meeting, instead.

Check " Aki-Asahi" - they sell shutter curtain material. Great service too.

Great resource.
My curtain looked really good, perhaps I can simply reattach, rewind and set tension.
If not I will be contacting Aki-Asahi for LF curtain material.
Thank you!

You forgot Graflex.org
Cameras may be low milage but the shutter curtains are prone to dry rot because it's rubber impregnated cloth,
my 4x5 reflex is pristine, but the curtain was crispy like a cracker.

Not this one. Rubber ages depending upon environment, all storage conditions are different.
I used to lab test rubber.
I didn't forget Graflex.org, but not much on FP shutters.

45PPP aka Shutterfinger on APUG is an awesome resource for anything Graflex, especially when it concerns FP shutter curtains. You might check with him. I have two 2x3 RB Model B's they are great little cameras.

Good Luck

I looked into 45PPP and he has posted some great info. I am going to experiment with a rather junky 3x4 Speed to get a handle on the curtain business.
This project has a few in front of it. I like to get the whole thing visualized before I start.
Re: :( My mint Graflex 2x3 RB 'B' is curtains!
I may have a curtain available. I have a 2x3 Speed carcass which I'm going to scrap. If the curtain is in usable shape I'll let you know.

Thanks. Probably best still inside the carcass or at least on the rollers.
