Epson 7800 start-up problem

Hi All
I am new to this forum and would first like to say hello to everyone.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve the following problem without calling on the services of Epson?

After 2 years of printing (about 70m of 24" paper used) my printer will not go past the "please wait" message. I've tried everything that epson has told me each day over a two week period:
Swith off, remove all cables, switch on after 10 min with paper lever upright, load paper, select pause when instructed.
It hangs after that with suction fans running and head at the right paper edge.

Any ideas would be welcome.
