Sinar Shutter Repair
The title is probably a little misleading. My Sinar shutter works fine. But I'm interested in having the ƒ/stop control and the associated plastic "sight gauge" at camera right removed so it doesn't interfere with my camera (not a Sinar). I don't use DB mounts, so it's excess hardware anyway.
Someone had once recommended Peachtree Camera Repair in Atlanta, but I recall that someone else had concerns about using their services. Can anyone recommend a reliable shop to do the job? Does anyone have any comments about Peachtree?

Re: Sinar Shutter Repair
Another vote for I have purchased lenses and Sinar boards from George Brown.
He has also mounted some lenses for me on Sinar DB boards, like my Fujinon A lenses. (I can now use them both in their original shutters and in Sinar DB boards, depending on which camera I am using.)
I have recommended him here and on my own web site. He's great.

Re: Sinar Shutter Repair
One of the nice things about using Sinar DB boards is that they have more aperture blades than modern shutters.
Here's a photo made with a Fujinon 240A that George mounted in a DB board. Instead of the usual 5-bladed aperture and resulting pentagonal blur pattern, the opening is now a more irregular shape, basically circular. The Fujinon A lenses are quite sharp, and have very nice blur wide-open. With this setup, they have nice blur at all f/stops.

You might also ask Bob Watkins at Precision Camera if this is something that he could do. He has fixed and tuned Sinar Shutters for me but I don't know what modifications he will do.
