Hi from South London
Hi All, I thought I had better say hello.
It has been 25 years since I used a LF camera (at collage) but I sort of swapped an EOS lens for a Sinar F, something to do with wanting a challange. I have shot a roll of 6x9, I bought the RFH because my enlarger will do 6x9 max, I remembered the darkslide and when to use it:) but and here is the BIG but, I have just got some 4x5 DDSs.
Hum time to go shopping for a new enlarger.
I expect that I will be doing more looking than posting, so till the next time...........

Re: Hi from South London
Welcome aboard, Keith.
You might find value in searching the archives here for references to LF camera supplies/stores in London. If you've got the coin, Camulet is an option for most supplies. Robert White is also a great place for new/expensive gear.
Also, you might want to look at www.apug.org as a good "sister" site to this one.
Finally, you've got a great organisation over there for Brit large format users: http://www.lf-photo.org.uk
All the best with your endeavours!

Re: Hi from South London
Hi Keith,
4x5 contact prints are quite nice and you could always scan them. Not the ideal but budget LF is always a compromise.
One bit of shopping advice based on experience, stay away from Croydon.
Best wishes,
Pete.

Re: Hi from South London
Thank you all for the welcome.
Many moons ago I worked for Leeds Photovisual in the Brunswick Centre so I know some of the staff at Calumet, Drummond St very well. As for the Croyden advice, I have known Alex for many years, always fun to visit............
For paper, film and chemistry I usually call into Silver Print on my way back to London Bridge Station.
Not been 'minted' I will have to keep an eye on the 'Bay' for an enlarger, I am looking forward to scanning a 4x5 negative on my Epson V700, I was quite impressed with the 6x9 scans.

Re: Hi from South London
Was down in Peckham today... didn't realise how many arty types were in the area. Delboy AND artists? Heaven!

Re: Hi from South London
Hi Ash, you are right the Peckham / East Dulwich / Forest Hill area seems to attract musicans and artsie people. We do have Camberwell Art School (as was) and Goldsmiths on the door step, though I do not think Peckham will ever be the new Hoxton, who knows?
