Stacking prints made on Epson Velvet
I'm planning on making color prints that I will store in a portfolio box. I was thinking of using Epson Fine Velvet paper. Is there any problem stacking prints made from this paper assuming they have time to dry? Or can someone recommend a better matt paper for this purpose?

Don't do it!!!
Epson Fine Art inkjet paper looks great...but it is ridiculously fragile. You'll have little white dots where the ink flakes off...even when dry! That's why I gave the 5 or 6 sheets (13x19--EXPENSIVE!) I had left to a friend. I will never use it again.

using interleaving sheets will help

I use Epson Velvet Fine Art paper extensively. When it was new there were some flaking problems, but they have been fixed. It has the highest Dmax of any mat paper so it is a good decision. I have had flacking on one sheet in two years, much less than on Hahnemuele Photo Rag. I simply let them dry thoroughly overnight and then put an interleaving sheet in between.
If you like Velvet Fine Art you will also probably like Crane Museo Max, a very similar paper, slightly warmer, but available in larger sizes and rolls.

Hugh, you also might start by brushing the paper before you run it through your printer. I brush the Textured Fine Art paper before printing to loosen any flakes that might be inclined to peel off after it has run through the printer. I had lots of problems initially. None since I started brushing the paper.

I second that Keith. It solves allot of problems including keeping your printers interior cleaner.

Thanks for all the insight. I've begun printing and they look really good. Keith, I like your new image of the tuolumne river canyon. I viewed it at my neighbor's home.

Hugh, thanks for the compliment. That image has been popular. Sorry to have missed the slide marathon. I'll have to swing by to see your operation next visit. BTW, when is the next gig for the Jessemite Marching Band?

Kieth,
I'm not sure where Paul came up with the accent. We have already performed on skis at Badger Pass however, this was stopped short when our drummer fell into a tree well - luckily the drum was not damaged.
I imagine the the spring melt off this year is going to be BIG after all of the late rain we have had and are still gettting. Also the storms have been cold dropping the snow level easily to valley level and below.
This weekend I will be attending a Charlie Cramer Workshop in Santa Clara and hope to come home with a couple of large prints.
