Trolling for opinions - website
I've just put together a new website for my photography, and wouldn't mind critique... Not loaded with pictures yet as I've been working out presentation, but I think you'll get the idea. Especially interested in browser issues. The code is basic and should work on most machines. Ephemeral

Hi Paul,
Your entry splash screen came up immediately, but the home.html page took over a minute to load on a very fast connection, and there does not appear to be any large files on the page. Are you serving your site yourself?

Randall - no I'm not- that's actually surprising, because the main image on the present home file is not large, and it downloads for me on a 56K line at the "normal rate" . The domain is virtual, so your system might have some delay until the name caching is complete...I've have seen this on some name server systems with other virtual urls...

Paul, I don't know know what you've got behind that first screen, but I'm not about to wait all day to find out!

Not sure if it is my eyes but the logo is very out of focus and it hurts to look at it. It could be the color combination causing a vibration.. The site loaded quick on a crappy dialup using Safari.

Hi Paul,
Once the Domain is resolved (which happened immediately on your front page) subsequent pages should go equally quickly barring an error or huge files. Please take this as helpful peer testing, but I suspect something is amiss.

I had no problems at all getting in there - that side worked just fine.
But for me the look is a bit too "vegas"
The 3-D two tone URL at the top just doesn't work (even more so on the black) - it rather looks like it should flash or rotate....
tech note - your "web image (C) ... etc" on the main image is half hidden by the image itself (on plain old IE here).
Also, along with the 3-D url thing, I find the prose a bit too - stilted? purple? (can you manage both at the same time?):
"a synthesis of prototypical and leading edge techniques in photography" - "under the traditional dark cloth using fundamental manual techniques for
aperature, shutter speed and focus." etc and I'd dump "giclee" like a hot (squirting) potato
Most of all - to me it just feels like the website sort of jars with the images and the ethos I think you are trying to project (even the blue on black, while okay on it's own, also seems to do that to some extent)
the work seems classy - the website - not quite... do you see what I mean?
