Your Favorite Black Photographer
To go along with the favorite female photographer thread. We can do Puerto Rican and Nepalese next.
Seriously, it would chaff me to be identified as any sort of "Xxxx-photographer" instead of being a full-fledged photographer with the hinderance of a qualifier in front of my name.
Re: Your Favorite Black Photographer
I agree with you Frank. I had responded to the female photographer thread, but then deleted my response for this very reason. All that matters is the image.
Re: Your Favorite Black Photographer
I, for one, am excited about your proposed new series, Frank.
Will you also list the pros and cons of each race/religion? :)
I didn't mind the female photographer thread; I think there are subtle but noticeable differences in the ways in which men and women approach art, and the making of art.
You may start pelting me with rotten fruit now.
Thank you.

I, for another one, am excited about Franks proposed new series as well. I'm sure many people will agree with me on this one. Gordon Parks is my pick. Great photographer. Seriously, I'm really having fun on this forum.
Re: Your Favorite Black Photographer
I'm actually looking up some of the female photographers from that thread. I don't know that many so I don't see what's wrong with the idea.

Good point Vinny. I have been doing the same thing.

Huge vote for Gordon Parks as well as James Van Der Zee!

I'm with you on this one, Frank. In my own defense, the photographers I listed as favorites of the female sex are favorites, period. I would hate to think those photographers I admire so much might believe I qualify my admiration based on their genitals. I feel dirty.

"There are subtle but noticeable differences in the ways in which men and women approach art, and the making of art" I honestly do not think a man could have created the beauty that Annie W Brigman did in her art. Her work had a special quality that I feel could only come from a woman. But if it will help anyone sleep better tonight, Annie Brigman and Gordon Parks are two of my favorite "Photographers".
