On topic: good work Jesse, would be nice to see them put together as a collection
Yes, I know we can't be political here, so I will just say that I've had multiple incidences in New York City where police officers aggressively told me either that I could not take a picture of what was happening, or specifically that I would be arrested if I were to take a picture of the police officers themselves. It's very bad, and sadly there's nothing you can do that's effective against this as an individual, only when people stand together.
Anyway...

Stone, I don't know what kind of laws you have up there in NYC. Here in DC, if you are standing in a public place & not interfering with police activity, you have the right to take photographs. Just because they are police officers doesnt mean they wont lie to you.
Only place photos are a "No No" is inside the Pentagon Metro stop. Take out your cell phone to take a pic & they will be on you in seconds...seen it happen.

Do it anyway!!!!! They have no legal right to arrest you, if as mentioned you are on public property and not interfering! Stand up for your rights man!
Re: post your urban landscapes
I thought you could be arrested without reason or explanations since the tragic event...
Re: post your urban landscapes
No, of course you can't be (legally).
Re: post your urban landscapes
The way it works is: you will be arrested, your camera taken and possibly lost or destroyed, you will be held for several hours and released without being charged. You are then free to lawyer up and sue, except since your camera is gone you have no evidence.

Oh come on, this isn't Russia.

It's not about the laws it's about the police officers breaking the laws, there's a growing trend for officers to simply arrest people and then even though they're in the wrong, they just get a slap on the wrist later and you have to hire an attorney and they just don't care. People New York City at this point are just afraid of them and are too afraid to stand up because there's too many of them. Just look at what happened during occupy Wall Street, Women on the other side of barricades simply looking on, not actually doing anything or saying anything we're grabbed by the hair and ripped over the barricades and beaten, one military officer stepped in to defend someone and was beaten and later died in the hospital from injuries.
It's really bad and no one is doing anything about it.
These are facts that I have seen, not opinion, and again I'm trying out to get political here, I'm just saying how it is.
Re: post your urban landscapes
This is the "post your urban landscapes" thread, let's not talk our way into another locked thread.

This is the same city where they tried to ban soda. Obviously the guys running the ship up there have a firm grasp on things. ha
Seriously, cities get sue for stuff like that and lose big. I cant imagine lawyers wouldnt represent clients for no upfront costs & just taking a percentage of the winnings.
