Hello from Madrid
Hi everybody.
I am a 34 years old new photographer from Madrid (Spain).
I would like to learn about large format photography because I think it suits with my style of photography.
My preferred subjects are landscape, and portrait.
I have no LF camera yet, but I am earning some money to get a 4x5 field camera. I have fell in love with the wooden ones, but still dont Know wich one to buy.
In my daily dreams I imagine myself travelling all around forgetting time and taking nice pictures with my LFcamera. I have some proyects in mind.

Buena suerte para encontrar su caja mágica. Lo siento, tengo Copa Davis en la cabeza.
Bienvenido!
(apologies for my poor Spanish!)

Re: Hello from Madrid
Bienvenido. Madrid would be a wonderful place to shoot 4x5. I'm often visiting the city for family reasons but never have the time to take pictures. There are many wonderful 4x5 view cameras available second hand but first I would start by buying a second hand book and becoming part of a local LF enthusiast group if there is one in Madrid:

Re: Hello from Madrid
Spain has traditionally used the tallboard type (chambre de Voyages) cameras - usually 13x18 or 18x24cm walnut/mahogany cameras.
There is a very active ebay lister in Spain who has a good variety or these and is fairly realistic about values. You might be able to arrange a loan and see if the movements/format size is what you are after.
I know you were talking about "4x5" but being able to make useable contact prints gives an extra dimension to Large Format - in my view.
