Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 work with Intel MacPro?
Hi,
Just wondering if any Nikon Super CoolScan owners out there might have loaded Nikon Scan 4.0.2 scanware on their Intel MacPro and if so... how well did it work?
I had heard there were compatability problems with Intel Macs.
Any one tried VureScan or SilverFast AI Studio in the same environment?
Suggestions?
Re: Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 work with Intel MacPro?
I used Nikon Scan 4.0.2 with my Intel iMac and MacBook Pro, both Tiger and Leopard, without any problem connected to CoolScan 8000ED and IV ED, firewire and USB respectively.
I recommend to use firewire for your 9000ED. The transfer speed of firewire and USB 2.0 doesn't make big difference, but firewire takes less CPU resources and thus is more stable.
I switched to EPSON V700 for the entry into LF.

Speaking of Coolscan, does anyone sell refurbished units ?

Pity. I sold mine at lousy price last week. Only after 2 weeks CCD cleaning. :(
Re: Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 work with Intel MacPro?
Do you mean that it needed cleaning after 2 weeks ? Or that you sold it, 2 weeks after cleaning the CCD ?
Re: Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 work with Intel MacPro?
The latter, of course. :)
Sorry for wrong english, preposition is still confusing to me.
I used the 8000 ED more than 2 years. I sold it with my Mamiya 7II and 6MF.
They were good combination, but in order to come into LF world...

As always, Jim at Midwest sells them used whenever he can get his hands on them, He usually has one every two or three months.

I use a Nikon 9000 on an Intel Mac Pro running Leopard. The Nikon scan software sometimes crashes, but otherwise it works fine.

I have been using the Nikon Super Coolscan 9000ED with my Intel MacPro. The Photoshop plug in does not work with the Intel Macs as of a month or so ago. I called technical support at Nikon and actually spoke with a technician who said that the Photoshop import plug in didn't work on the Intel Macs and he didn't know when it would be able to do so. Scans must be done with the Nikon software and then imported into Photoshop.
