Re: Lovely Website But...
Frank, it all works just fine, here. After you do a little searching around to find the links it seems very creative and logical navigation to me. Love the crab galleries. What a sense of humor Mr. corey has. MAC PB 15" 1.25 Safari 2.0.4 Mac OS X 10.4.8
Best,

Great site! I love his use of color and there are many humorous photos. He's only 30 BTW.
Re: Lovely Website But...
I don't have time to go through a treasure hunt to find the links and I hate it when the links go away and it then it also becomes a memory test because I'm over 60 and have no short term memory and I lived through the 1960s and have no long term memory. I agree with Frank on web design. You should be able to look at the page and see everthing you need without having to wave a mouse around.

If you are using Safari and reading this, you will find that the menu dosen't work, we're fixing that ASAP but just use the arrows on the top right to get outta here.
so they know there's a bug in their code... and?
Re: Lovely Website But...
That's some darn fine photography. I really like his style and focused choice of subject matter.
I think my absolute favorite photograph - probably the best shot I've seen in months - was the shot of the lone blindfolded deckhand swinging at the pinata on a snow covered deck, while 30 foot seas loomed overhead. Jawdropping, and it made me laugh for quite a long time.

man... now I know what a wall of water looks like..
Cheers
Re: Lovely Website But...
Frank, Looks like he should have used a template....
Re: Lovely Website But...
LOL, maybe you're right. I emailed him about the bug and I bet a few more people did too. The pity is that he got linked from Kottke today so his visitors probably shot through the roof (like over a million), and it failed for a fair number of them.
I really wouldn't want to be his web designer right now (she's listed on his links too.)
Still, while I know it ain't shot with a 4x5, you gotta give up to the guy. It's photos like that you don't see everyday.
I wonder if Nat'l Geo would ever be smart enough to hire him for a few stories?
Re: Lovely Website But...
I like it. I like the work. But you could take the basis of the design and build a more streamlined site that did not use "mystery navigation" or require javascript for the extra popup gallery. Popups are becoming frowned upon these days. Not to say they are bad, just that web design, like all design, suffers from the vagaries of fashion.
You could take all those great pictures and create a nice thumbnail gallery using floats via CSS and have a site that will render better across more devices, operating systems and browsers...
