Well ... I guess I have somehow made the printer god angry ...

in the meantime I sold the printer causing the other thread ...

... for 200 bucks and got an HP Z3200 ... sadly not without issues ...

I assembled and set up the printer like it asked me to (using the included HP Everyday Satin Paper)

After inserting the inks, the print head box moved from the parking position to an accessible area ... there it became visible that there was mouse shit on the box with the print heads (and around it).
The matte ink is clogged on the "diagnosis page"
At the beginning of each roll paper page (around 2cm from the paper edge) there are mechanically caused strips over the whole page (in the print-head-moving direction)


Asides from that, nice colors what I saw from the diagnosis page ...

Mailed the company and now I hope I will get an immediate replacement for that printer from the company selling it ...
I hope I won't have to deal with HP support and perhaps end up with some refurbished old printer or someth

Like I said, I must have somehow made the printer god angry ...
Looks like I'll have to make a formal sacrifice, for example take some EUR bills, glue them together on a huge page,
and then print "Hail the lord of pigments" all over it ;-)

Good news, it seems!

Well, in the meantime, the service guy was here.

He replaced the MK/R print head
and explained that the stripes are resulting from the short 4,5m roll paper which came with the printer,
and if the the issues should go away if I create a custom profile and set the "star wheel" position to "down".

With the HP Professional Satin paper, the stripes issue does not remain,
and the print head nozzle clogging is also gone with the new print head.
Judging from the "diagnosis print"...
That is, except for a single tiny bit of 1mm where the line is broken, which the service guy claimed to be normal.

I found two more pieces of dried "mouse shit rolls", which I removed.

Now generating a custom ICC profile for the HP Professional Satin.

I have to verify the thing with the stripes regarding the curly HP Everyday Satin,
as the short paper roll is empty, but besides from that, it now looks good!

I use a z3200ps. Problems do corp up - but I don't think more so with the HP than with other large printers. Mine "blew" a red print head and I had to clean a considerable mess out of the printer and replace the head. Since then it has been fine. I love that using the profile for the actual roll of paper being used. I suspect there is some paper lot variation and this causes problems sometimes when using canned profiles. Incidentally as an everyday paper, Epson Premium Lustre works brilliantly on the z3200. The Professional Satin is fine but I fine it lacks brilliance for my taste. Hope you enjoy your z3200.

ouch, that sounds like a hell of a mess!
Mine is also running well now! Also enjoying the convenience of the onboard spectro!
I've settled on the Everyday Semigloss for preview purposes and the Canson Baryta Photographique for the final printing.
