Hello,

I usually buy my presentation package on a local (Canada) source www.matshop.ca
They have a very cost effective deal where 25 mats with standard opening size, light card backings and a clear plastic enveloppes are sold all together at an attractive price.
I have found several sizes for 6x7 printed on letter, 4x5 printed on 11x17 and for 6.9 printed on half 13x19.
This is a very cost effective way to keep my prints and it simply looks good to look at a print matted.
Now I like to do pano and I just got a 6x12 back from the forum.

I inquired with my supplier about getting the same presentation package but with a custom opening of 15x7.5 on the same 16x20 matte that comes in the package. Suddenly the price more than double. I am a little miffed about this. I was expecting to pay a premium but not that kind of premium.

Do you guys have a reasonnably priced source for thsi kind of things?

Cheers,

Luc

Luc, I have purchased some presentation packages from Golden State Art in California. They have them in standard precut sizes at resonable prices purchased in quantities. They will quote custom cuts.

Thanks Pat. After more discussion with my usual supplier and checking some other site including your suggestion, they came out at the cheapest...

This may be a bit tangential to your current need, but you may consider doing print presentation (http://www.rangeoflightphotography.com/pages/Fine%20Art%20Print%20Presentation) yourself. The truth is out there.

It has crossed my mind but is not a mat cutter really expansive and takes a lot of room?

Mat cutters come in all types and sizes, depending on your needs. The (one time) cost varies commensurately, from less than $100 to a few $thousand. Check out B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=mat+cutters&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=). The DIY approach, diligence, and some attention to my previous link should get you to a point at which you may present any reasonable size print you desire professionally, at less cost and without restriction, than your pre-made sources can offer.
