Hi, all -
I've been noticing in a lot of my scans I have some speckly noise showing up - like in this one:

Enough, Dad... (http://www.flickr.com/photos/scott--/7924656002/) by Scott -- (http://www.flickr.com/people/scott--/), on Flickr
I've cleaned the platen, and the negatives are clean, so I'm not sure where it's coming from. I'm scanning with an Epson 4990 - is this possibly the result of off-gassed fogging on the underside of the platen? Power surges? Anyone?
Thanks,
Scott
