Positive Transparency Prints

Has anyone here tried printing positive b&w images onto a transparent medium (pictorico etc.) and overlaying it perfectly flat onto white paper? I read on these forums a while back that someone was exhibiting this way, alas a search query returned empty. It seems like it would be essentially the same as printing straight onto paper, but there may be print quality drawbacks that I haven't considered.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
