Normally, I use CS4 and Adobe Camera Raw for editing my digital files on my desktop computer. However, I travel with a small notebook and have loaded PS Elements 8.0 as well as the ACR plug-in. I want the ability to make quick adjustments while I'm on the road. For some reason, I don't seem to be able to launch the plug-in or edit using ACR after opening a RAW or DNG image. Usually, when I open a DNG image on my desktop computer, it automatically launches ACR inside Photoshop, but with Elements on the notebook, there is no sign of the ACR interface.

Does anyone have any experience with Elements and ACR?

By the way is it just me or is the Help on the Adobe website the most user unfriendly frustration you've ever tried to use? That's the main reason I'm posting this here, rather than there.

I don't have elements, but in Photoshop you can do a File, Open As, specify Camera Raw and then choose the file.

Thanks, Jon - I tried that, but it still won't launch the ACR interface.

Maybe in the preference options?
I know in PS-CS 3-6 there are options in both Bridge and PS to open a .jpg, or .tiff into ACR as default action.
Dunno Elements...
