I got a digital copy a couple months ago and I find it really hard to find information, I must be doing something wrong.

I have a bunch of PDF files in alphabetical order, and then one single PDF file named "Old.Version.With.Diagrams.pdf".

How do you search and where do you start?

It's not the easiest source of information, you need to glance through ech file and get a feel for how it's put together, then use Cntrl + F to search the relevant file.

I was initially rather disappointed with what you get but in hindsight it's just the work of two collectors and it's a good basis to start from and a lot of hard work went into compiling what's in it. Like many publications in academic terms it's not a primary source so can't be trusted, there are muistakes even with quote sources.

It really needs someone to put together a cross-index possibly in spreadsheet form to allow better searching.

It's sorta alphabetical. Sorta.

I use the 'old' monolithic file to do a search. Then, when I find what I want, I use the alphabetic deconstruction to load the smaller file with the photos in the correct place. It isn't user-friendly, but for a few dollars and information not available elsewhere, I'm glad we have it available.

I merged all the single pdf's into one so at least search is easier and I can also browse it like a proper book. Thanks for the replies really, I thought I was doing something wrong. It is a great book to just flip through it.

Ramiro,
Please help me, what software did you use to merge the files together?
thanks,
Gui

I used Adobe Acrobat Pro.

A long time ago (before it had a distributor) I used the full version of Adobe Acrobat to merge all the PDFs into one and added book marks for the major manufacturers. To reduce the size of the file I also remove the images. This was a lot of work, but makes it an more useful reference.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit... this is why I've never bought a copy... despite the chidings of those such as Dan F.
