I use the stop watch for long exposures. However, I just downloaded the Massive Development Chart for future use.

Check out TPE, "the Photographer's Ephemeris".
This app works on iPhones, androids, iPads, and, I believe, there's also a desktop version.

The program is excellent for landscape and nature photographers and assists in predicting lighting conditions based on location. The author describes it as a "map-centric sun and moon calculator". It shows the direction of sunlight or moonlight at any time, day or night for anywhere on earth. It can also take elevation into account. Designed by a photographer from the UK.

There's a website with complete info. Just google the name or "TPE photo". It costs about $10, but well worth it

"Sun Seeker" does all of those same things, plus it will superimpose onto the camera the path of the sun on any day you want so you can see in detail when it will be going behind buildings and things like that. I think Sun Seeker cost a buck.

I like Pocket Light Meter which allows to to change iso, shutter speed and aperture. While it will never be as good as my Pentax spot or Sekonic incident, it is a good way to record shots and settings, something I always forget to do.

Light meter app and massive dev chart app, don't rely use the light meter much just if I forget my second but the dev chart app is all I use for developing now it's great!

Going to look up that reciprocity app...

Also... Posting with tapatalk... It's WAY better than the website, I can't find anything when I use the real site, tapatalk is MUCH simpler and easier.

Clinometer (http://plaincode.com/products/clinometer/) is brilliant for levelling your camera. As far as I can tell its pretty accurate. Certainly accurate enough for the army.

Photo Tools Pro (http://www.phototoolspro.com/) I think is great too. I found a few issues with it previously but recently releases seem to be very stable. I was going to write my own but decided it works well enough that I can get used to some of its nuances. I'm not sure I make much use of some of the features (vibration sensor, level - Clinometer is much better) but the logging functionality is great.

My favorite iPhone LF App is Viewfinder Pro (https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/viewfinder-pro/id362496185?mt=8), which is also helpful at times when not schlepping the camera around. In the field, I do use it together with probably the best water tight case from Apanook (http://www.apanook.com).

Further Apps:
#2 Helios Sun Calculator (https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/helios-sun-position-calculator/id311648870?mt=8)
#3 Photo Buddy (https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/photobuddy/id290785551?mt=8)

I use Pocket Light Meter for my meterless 35mm and 120 cameras. It's free and works quickly. I might try some of the other options. Normally use a Minolta IVF, but Pocket Light Meter is pretty darn close to being accurate. It's definitely helpful in a pinch. I don't trust it in low light situations, however.

I have been using the light meter app,
But my problem is it only has f8 and my lens is f7.1
My ilex shutter is also of odd increments

Does any one have the same problem and a work around solution

You can modify an existing one into anything you want. So just use the info from particular color developing kit you are using and enter that into massive dev chart.

Hey Moderators!

There's a lot of good information in this thread, and there's going to more, and it's going to evolve. Maybe someone could be enticed to make some kind of wiki page for the info area of the site.

Has anyone done a close comparison between their spot meter and pocket light meter? I'm interested in how accurate the app is, and how well it handles low light.
My trusty honeywell/pentax gave up the ghost. And the world keeps bugging me to get an iphone.

Paul, I have not done any formal testing of the Pocket Light Meter app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pocket-light-meter/id381698089?mt=8), but in a quick comparison it was very close to how I would meter the scene with a Pentax digital spot meter. But it's different from both an incident and spot meter. It seems to rely on the camera built into the iPhone for the metering. Meaning you choose the focus point and the camera adjusts the image to "correctly" expose the subject behind the focus point. The app then gives you reading in EV or time and aperture. So you sort of need to use the preview image to see if it looks correct. It seems to work down to about EV 1.5.

I imagine one could get used to this type of metering and use it successfully as a primary meter. I'm not giving up the spot meter for large format, but I do like iPhone Light Meter app for a backup, or when i want to take out a small folding camera without a meter.

I also like the Reciprocity Timer (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/reciprocity-timer/id459691262?mt=8) app.
