Thanks, A&I used to have a SM branch. Hollywood is not much closer than Icon, oh well!

If the distances aren't to your liking I think they both will do mail order.

I send my E6 (4x5) to Samy's Camera in Santa Barbara, they do an excellent job at a very good price.

Ditto on Samy's Santa Barbara. Fortunately I live there so I can drop it off, but I have a lot of friends who send in their processing to the SB store, as well.

Harley is the one who turned me on to Samy's. I ship my film to them and have not had a single issue. They get my vote, too.

Dan Stone highly recommends Sammy's SB on a regular basis. I'm surprised he hasn't chimed in already.

I was using Samy's til I found Datachrome, in orange country.

Rochelle Burch only does E-6 processing, not as ” cheap” as Samy's, but more consistent IMO. I can also drop off and pick up my film with a 2-3 hr turnaround 9/10 times (usually 10/10 unless I have a lot of 8x10 film).

She also does mail-order processing, and with the cost of gas, I'm now shipping my film to her, despite it only being 45mi away from me. Shipping both ways is about the cost of gas for my Honda, but wear and tear makes shipping more affordable in the long run.

I also had frequent problems for some reason with my priority mail packages to the Santa Barbara store greeting misplaced, or not delivered at all, despite the postman supposedly saying it was delivered. Having it returned TWO WEEKS after I originally posted it, I find it totally unacceptable.

I now use Rochelle's services, and I couldn't be happier.

I love Santa Barbara, but does Samys in Hollywood also develop? Did not know. Just think of them as selling products.

no. They send E-6 up to the Santa Barbara store now(keeps business in-house, and since A&I closed their E-6 line, they can no longer outsource E-6 processing to a local facility(what they did before))

Samy's doesn't have a lab though..do they? don't they just hand it off to Color Services in town...???

The last time I was in Santa Monica, I saw a few blacks and yellows on the beach chasing frisbees!

No, they have their own lab in-house w/ (2) refrema dip n' dunk processors, one for E-6, and one for C-41. I've seen them in-person last year when I was up there.

As Dan says, they definitely have their own lab. I used to use Color Services, but I found their processing getting spotty (literally - blue dots on the chromes). I have been quite happy with the Samy's lab.

FWIW, I jsut got back c-41 (5x7) from Icon on Wilshire near La Brea. Fast turn around and no developing weirdness.

I'm looking forward to seeing how e6 turns out.
