Teenage Photographer Wins Settlement From London Police

Police said the act of photographing the soldiers was “silly,” “gay” and “stupid.”

They also said he was a possible threat under the UK’s Terrorism Act.

And even though the parade was marching down a public street in broad daylight, they said it was illegal.

"gay" = happy, right, or has that word been misappropriated in the UK also?

No matter.. the police seem to have been silly and stupid if they took themselves seriously in that situation.

The UK leads for public surveillance, and yet the police are insanely paranoid about photographers. With all of the repeated publicity about how the police can't stop a person from photographing in public, incidents like this keep occuring. Do the police just want to lose money, repeatedly?

There's lots of streaming channels, and I'm sure that one of these times the cops will be greeted with the words, "Hi! You're live on YouTube!"

All of these incidents we hear about always end up in the same way... i.e. the police always issue an apology.
You would think that they would have learned by now.

The police have no incentive to learn.
Even if a settlement is paid, it will rarely impact the department's budget and will never impact the offending officer.
