I have 3 Kodak 5x7 glass plate holders. What is the thickness of the plate for these holders?

Thanks,
chris

The 1951 ASA standard was from .058 to .063 inches.

To answer your next question, "Where can I get some glass of this thickness?, try a good framing shop.

One problem is that in some parts of the world 2mm is the thinnest glass now availble over the counter to the public.

My local glass shop says his suppliers no longer sell or stock anything thinner, this is evidently a Health & Safety issues in the UK, even greenhouse glass which used to be quite thin has to be 4mm now.

Thinner glass is available but through specialist suppliers and not all will supply the public only businesses.

I've noticed that I can use "single strength" glass = .0625mm without a problem in my wooden plate holders, as there's enough room in there and the litte clips that hold the glass in place ensure that the surface of the glass corresponds to the focal plane, regardless of the fact that you may be using thicker glass.

Cyrus,

They have a minimum lot charge of $45.00 and they will cut it to dimension.

The single strength hardware store glass I bought today measures .095 inches. Glass from picture frames is usually a little thinner, and sometimes has safe edges.

See what I mean that's thicker than the 2mm I can get easily, it's 2.4mm.

In the UK picture glass was once 2mm or 1.5mm now it's 2mm minimum.

The issue is now the volume market for thinner glass like 1.5mm has gone prices will be much higher.

Ah, well then, there you go! :p
I was looking for some 1mm thick sheets of glass to use in an old folding plate camera. Thanks for the link!
