View Full Version : Copper toner life?

A friend of mine suggested I try copper toner for some of my prints, so I eagerly bought some (from Formulary).

I was reading the directions and it said to discard after use. The package only makes 2 liters which is what I use in an 11x14 tray for paper. Does this stuff really only last for one session? Or could I put it in a bottle and use it for a couple of weeks (or more)? I only print sporadically so I would like longer life than that.

It does not keep well.

Dang. Well I guess I'll have to make a few prints and then do them all at once.

Use a flat bottom tray. Use 100mm per print and tone each print 1 at a time. I'm not sure how long the mixed solution in the bottle will last but using a 100mm one shot might work for you. FWIW, I've never used copper toner but use palladium and gold toners in this manner.

Thanks Don, I will have to try that. By the way, do you still have any trays left? I might be interested in a few and I'm coming up to Atlanta in a few weeks.
