I have a 2010 macbook pro and power mac from 2005(non intel chip) I would like to be able to connect the macbook pro to my G5 so that i can access files from the macbook pro using my power mac. can anyone suggest how to connect and operate this arrangement?

I have the same macs and connect them via ethernet cables to a router. In SystemPreferences/Sharing allow the PowerMac to be controlled by the Macbook.

The easiest way is to use target mode. Connect the two computers using a firewire cable and turn on the macbook pro holding down the T on the keyboard until you see the firewire sign on the screen. The macbook will show up as an external hard drive accessible by your PowerMac.

if your sharing smaller files over a network , dropbox gives away 2gb free. Cloud based but great across mac,pc, ipad, iphone & andriod.

or finder just sees a running mac as another comp on the network and you can copy and paste, or drag and drop files....
