The Columbia Land Conservancy (Columbia County, New York State, Hudson Valley Region) has sponsored a juried exhibition of photographs which present, to quote the call for entries, "natural and agricultural beauty of Columbia County" (this county is genuinely a lovely place with much to present).

The exhibit will be at the Spencertown Academy for the next month (a local arts and music venue). Google "Spencertown Academy" for more details.

I was astonished at the proportion of the entries, selected for hanging by the juror, which are black and white. Often, exhibitions of this kind are flooded with digital images with saturated colors and a blotch of red someplace in the frame. Not so at Spencertown - there is really nice B&W work to be seen here. The juror accepted about 10-15% of the entries.

Full disclosure - one of my prints was selected by the juror (Carrie Haddad, who owns a local fine art photography gallery) for inclusion in the exhibition. One can only be flattered to have work shown in such an august company as this.
