Does anyone have any experiance using the Lee Low Contrast Filters especially with Velvia?

Rather than carrying Velvia and Provia, I was hoping that these filters may allow me to only pack the Velvia for an upcoming trip where I expect harsh lighting some of the time.

Do they give you an extra stop?

Do they degrade the picture quality?

Thanks

I had not heard of these filters, so I looked at the description at B&H. It's an interesting idea, but I would be worried about flare. Overcoming any flare on Velvia would be an interesting exercise, imho.

My suggestion is use Velvia in low contrast light, and use either Astia 100F, or better still, a color neg film for high contrast situations.

It's amusing that we photogs prefer to get newer lenses with coatings, then look for "low contrast" filters to get the uncoated look.

So when in a high contrast situation, it's preferable to use an older uncoated lens vs. A newer multicoated?
