I will be in London soon. Does London have any stores with enough large format or darkroom gear that are worth visiting to window shop? Thanks.

Just to start you off try Teamwork, just off Tottenham Court Road. Stay away from Croydon and Camden High Street. For film, paper, raw chemicals and other interesting stuff there is Silverprint just accross the Thames near The Old Vic and Waterloo station.
Have fun,
Pete.

yes as Pete rightly said, teamwork (who are excellent people) is the place to start - here's the link to their 'used equipment page' -

aperture, who are ten to fifteen minutes walk away also have some LF stuff - http://www.apertureuk.com/

and jacobs photo in new oxford street also have some used LF equipmenet but generally not on the cheap side -

http://www.jacobsdigital.co.uk/findus.aspx

here's the silverprint link - http://www.silverprint.co.uk/

all of these stores are (in London terms) located fairly close together

and to again endorse what Pete said, do not go near a certain store in Camden High Street

regards

andrew

Aperture is definitely worth a visit.... at lunchtime... as it is a combined camera store and café.

Like everywhere else, online stores and auction sites have taken over much of the trade from retail shops. So you can check out Teamwork's and Aperture's offerings at their online store as well as visiting them. But check out Ffordes online store (actually based in Scotland), and Peter Walnes, both reputable suppliers of LF gear. Mr Cad in Croydon has a big website and a big store in Croydon, and covers darkroom stuff (more so than the others mentioned). If you want to visit, call to see if Alex Faulk will be around (knowledgeable about the LF stuff). Specialists in darkroom tend not to be in central London, so check out websites like secondhand darkroom supplies. Robert White you will have heard of, the major UK outlet for new LF gear, film etc, but based in Dorset, and be prepared to be shocked at the prices! Just so as you know, it is cheaper to import LF stuff including film from the US than to buy it in UK or in Europe.
