If you live in or near the Bay Area, or will be traveling to the area between now and December 16th, this is an exhibition that you will not want to miss. Over 700 photographs documenting Bay area photography from Muybridge and Watkins thru Misrach's Golden Gate Series. There are 22 rooms of photography with each exhibiting the works of a single or as many as 3 different photographers. There's even a projection room showing the dramatic chase through the streets of San Francisco from the classic movie Bullitt starring Steve McQueen and early Twentieth Century SFPD Mug Shots on their original arrest card.

Pier 24 is an extremely large facility - a former Port facility converted into a museum for displaying photography - and as only 20 visitors are allowed to tour the exhibit at a time you are guaranteed an up front and personal visual experience. Tours are limited to 2 hours and you must make an online appointment in advance. admission is free!

I visited the exhibit yesterday and found a free parking space just 2 blocks from the exhibit - right across from this scene:

Wish I could make that one. How was the show as far as quality of photographs displayed?
