I really like this picture of his:

I saw a similar balcony in Santiago, Chile but were are no colorful people standing or walking in front like there is in Brett's image above. This is what i consider to be the apex of 'street photography.'

What the hell -- it's $2500! When does the paperback come out?

If PWG existing books are an indication, there won't be a paperback, but the same book will at some point be available without a print for $150-$200.

Brett Weston is THE MAN!

There is a relatively new web page; if you haven't checked it out yet, you should:

Well, I have the "Master Photographer" book and it's signed. I think I'll just keep my $25 hundred in the bank. I love Brett's work but not that much!
I wonder what Brett would think of this? Probably, laughing...

This is a limited edition of 100 copies, and includes a print. It is a tribute to Brett, with contributions by those who knew him. There are no plans for future editions of this book.

A recently released biography of Brett by John Woods is now available, as a few events are occuring in celebration of Brett's cenntenial year.

As in the past, PWG has produced a beautiful book; this one is a tribute to Brett from his friends, not a book of his work. For that, I would suggest a copy of Master Photographer, from the same publisher.

There was a good crowd last Friday, December 16, for the book release party. The usual suspects were on hand, including Dick Garrod, Kim Weston, Roman Loranc, Scott Nichols and Mathias Van Hesemans.

I am enjoying the book, reading from those who knew Brett before he entered my life in 1949. Truly, a fascinating character, he touched so many personally.

Its the Woody Guthrie-Brett Weston Centennial. There should be a traveling musical exhibit. ('cepting I'm not sure they really complement each other)

For those who missed the opportunity to purchase the book WITH a print, they now have an opportunity to purchase the book WITHOUT a print. Price remains the same. Beautifully done, as typical of PWG books.

His prints are beautiful, but I don't think that his photographs are particularly interesting. I do have friends who feel differently, though.

Hi Bill,

Even if you did find his photographs interesting, this book would not be a good choice, in my opinion. The PWG book, Master Photographer, (a title Brett disliked) would be the one to get. Still being offered for $150. Save a couple of grand for film, paper, ink, or whatever!

Hi Merg,
I had that one, and gave it to one of my friends who could appreciate it more than I did. As I recall it was more like $60 at the time.

I would think the Portfolio Series being published by Lodima Press is a better deal than the Centennial book. But that series is delayed due to publisher/printer issues, last I heard.

The Lodima Portfolio Series is excellent. The Centennial book does not present Brett's work, rather it was done as a tribute, with insights from those who knew him well. Definetly not a good choice for viewing his work. For that, "A Personal Selection" or "Master Photographer" would be appropriate choices.
